Friday 03 Sept - Swat Program - Radio Communication update

Communication setup will be as following;

Kenwood repeater installed at Changla will be decomissioned tomorrow and the same will be installed at Malakand heights. This will be linked to a cross band ecom repeater at Nowshera which is inturn connected to PARS vhf repeater. Linking of so many repeaters will cause a tail squelch delay but given the circumstances and lack of proper equipment we will have to settle for it. Convoy will be lead by AP2AUM, AP2MKS and AP2ARS. Back up support will be provided by AP2NK from Islamabad, AP2ZZ from Attock, AP2RF and AP2GH from Faisalabad, AP2RP and AP2SAH from Haripur.

Team heading to Kalam in Heli will be taking along a vhf base with hi gain antenna. Subject to availability of a car battery we are hopeful that repeater installed at Malakand will be accessible from Kalam.

This will be the first ever time that Swat Valley will be connected with the rest of the country through 2 meter repeaters. Google map uploaded with tentaive theoratial coverage. The real coverage report will be uploaded after the trip.

The convoy will also be QRV on VO 52 satellite.
